Could I REALLY have underestimated it this much?

Sometimes I simply cannot believe how much fun it is to have a little girl.  I’m sure it’s one of those things that you just don’t fully appreciate until you have the opportunity.  I mean, I knew it would be tons of fun, and I couldn’t wait to partake in any of it, but I still had vastly underestimated.

Before Piper was born, and when we weren’t going to find out the sex of the baby, I was sure we were having a boy.  Incontrovertibly, we were having a boy.  Maybe it was a good thing we found out, because I may have bought half a wardrobe of boy clothes.  Piper looks really cute in blue, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not sure she would have appreciated all boy clothes…  She is pretty girly, after all.

As an example, check out Piper’s new fancy dress.

Between you and me, I think Piper’s Nana has been itching to make baby dresses.  Unfortunately, patterns for little girls don’t start very, well, little.  This is actually the newborn size (yes, I’m serious), and since it ties in the back, we’re thinking that as she gets taller, we can let out the hem and she’ll probably be able to wear it for quite some time.

And lemme just say- there’s very few things quite as fun as watching your less than twelve and a half pound daughter bring giant smiles to people’s faces.  No matter the circumstances, few people can resist the smiling, waving little twerp looking up at them.  Heck, I know we sure can’t!!!

  1. I know what you mean with the sizing. I was adjusting and taking in the size 0 clothes as I made them! Beautiful dress!

  2. Just wait til her hair gets long and you put it in pig tails with bows to match every outfit. But I still love boys clothes with monkeys, alligators, dinosaurs and such :)
